ACES-Vice President
A good leader
should be a good servant, competent and most of all, honest. If given a chance
to be the Vice-President in the Engineering Council there are three key
principles I will be holding on to in order to maintain good governance.
First, being a good servant. This
means that a leader should not only be an implementer but also a follower. The
members and not the officers hold the highest rank in the organization; leaders
are mere servants. This is mainly because the leaders work for the benefit of
the members and not for his own benefit and glory and thus a leader should
always deal with all the demands of the students or the members of the
organization.
Second, a leader should be competent-
an expert in his field. According to engineering management, a leader should be
skilful enough to lead in order for the members and his co-workers to follow
him. This is because, nowadays, people are intelligent enough to demand
whatever they want. Thus a good leader should have skills on how to handle
these demands and most importantly, a good leader should also be emotionally
and physically prepared.
Third, a leader should be honest.
Being in a student council implies that people chose you because they trust you
to manage them well. The trust they give includes matters pertaining to finance.
Nowadays, the integrity of a student leader is not only tested by the
endeavours but also by with how they deal with the council’s finances. Given a
chance to lead, I will really ensure that the finances of the council will be
well managed by implementing productive programs for the students development.
